About Xavier Whitford

Xavier Whitford is the Founder and Executive Director of the Tommy Corral Memorial Foundation.  She has devoted her life to helping others who live with mental illness or have been affected by suicide loss.  After losing her son Tommy to suicide and experiencing her own challenges through anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, Xavier found a deep purpose in her pain to help others.

Xavier shares her story to help others find courage and strength to rise above the pain, stigma, and shame of mental illness.  Xavier is a Board Member, Speaker, and Trainer with National Alliance on Mental Illness, Northern Illinois chapter.  She is also a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Group Facilitator.  She is a contributing author of the book “It’s Ok to no be Ok” and a survivor.

She is a frequent speaker at schools, churches, and organizations inspiring and educating groups of all ages to end the stigma surrounding mental illness and on the factors that lead to suicide.  Xavier helps arm individuals within communities with support and training.  Her personal story, tireless commitment, and passion to improve support and education around these topics has made her a powerful advocate to the mental health community.

Her greatest joy is the time she spends with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter.
